The many thousands of hours of volunteering each year are so vital to our local community.

This year’s Special Recognition Award was given to Gordon Wheeler for his efforts over many years, including at Yarra Glen Football/Netball Club and following the 2009 bushfires.

The awards also recognised the Yarra Valley Railway, led by President Brett Whelan. Over 500 Volunteers from 10 different community groups have contributed over 50,000 hours to restore the rail corridor. This combined effort makes this project one of the largest volunteer projects in Australia.

A big thank to all our volunteers!
